MATERIAL & MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Our Classic Builder Grade wood columns are available with a choice of
tapered or non-tapered shafts with or without an astragal (bead). Half-rounds
can be ordered to match full columns. Column halves, for reassembly around
an existing support for a decorative detail, are also available. There are several
ways that we can cut columns, i.e. - in halves, three quarters, outside corners,
and more. There are several wood species to select from, including: Western
Red Cedar, pine, poplar, Clear Heart Redwood, and more.
COLUMN SHAFT
Our Classic Builder Grade wood columns are available with a choice of tapered
or non-tapered shafts - with or without an astragal. Fluting is also available, and
for more decorative applications, Ionic fluting is a preferred style. We are also
able to alter the distance of the flutes from the bottom of the shaft for variations
in our smaller columns - and for use with our decorative composition capitals.
CAPITAL, BASE MOLDING & PLINTH
CAPITAL: Standard materials for our smaller Classic column capitals are
polyurethane. Wood capitals in the same wood species as the column shaft are
available at an upcharge. Please contact a Chadsworth Sales Consultant for
additional capital materials and information about our decorative capital options.
BASE MOLDING: Builder Grade Roman Doric base molding. On small
columns, base moldings are polyurethane. For an additional charge, wooden
base moldings are available. PLINTH: On small columns, plinths are
polyurethane, and for an upcharge - we can make the plinth in
your specified wood species.
