PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Chadsworth offers Load-Bearing Aluminum Plinths for your
structural wood columns. The plinth sits underneath your existing base molding
(rounded portion of the base), and it will add to the overall height.
Typically, on historic wood columns, the first components to deteriorate are the
base molding and plinth. This is due to the lack of cylindrical airflow up and
down the wood column shaft; therefore, over time - moisture is absorbed by the
column shaft as well as the column components, resulting in both rot and decay.
To prevent this, Chadsworth offers aluminum plinths that are designed to accommodate
the specific size of your column - small or large.
These plinths are paint-grade.
